Simple Book Reviews is where curious readers come to find their next favourite book, and where indie authors get a fair shot at being discovered. We hunt for indie gems, read widely, and publish honest, engaging reviews that help you choose what to read next.

What you’ll find here

Reviews that tell you what a book feels like, who it is for, and whether it earns your time.
Fresh Ink Shelf picks and featured books, so you can browse quickly when you’re in a “just give me something good” mood.
A growing library organised by authors, series, and genres, plus a blog for readers and writers who like to peek behind the curtain.

For indie authors

Independent authors and small presses can request a review free of charge. Selection depends on editorial fit and reviewer availability. Submitting a book does not guarantee acceptance, a positive rating or publication.

Please send the book details first and wait before sending a manuscript. If selected, we will contact you about a review copy. Read our guidance for indie authors before submitting.

Our promise

We aim to be honest, clear, and respectful. If we love something, you’ll feel it. If we don’t, we’ll say why without being cruel.
We may use affiliate links, including participation in the Amazon Associates programme, which means we can earn a commission if you buy through those links. That never buys a positive opinion.

Our reviewers

Mel, Lynn and Jordan are the named editorial voices used on Simple Book Reviews. Each review keeps its original byline and score. Editorial responsibility stays with Simple Book Reviews.

How we review

A useful review explains what works, what falls short and who may enjoy the book. The SBR score belongs to that individual review. Different reviewers can reach different conclusions about the same book. Book-level catalogue ratings and totals are shown separately and are not SBR reader votes.

Free review consideration and any commercial arrangements are separate from editorial judgement. A free copy does not buy a favourable score. We aim to avoid major spoilers and preserve the original verdict when correcting presentation or factual errors.

Spotted an error? Email contact@simplebookreviews.com with the review link, the detail you believe is wrong and a supporting source. We will assess the correction against the original text.
