Kate Quinn has done an exceptional job in portraying the remarkable story of Mila, a real-life woman. In this book, she not only brings Mila's journey to life but also adds layers of intrigue, romance, and the rich Russian culture of that era.

Mila believes she possesses superior abilities compared to others in defending against the invading forces. Unlike in England, France, and America, where women's roles were limited to hospitals during the war, Mila's fighting skills extend beyond that. Despite facing initial skepticism in the army, her exceptional sharpshooting skills prevail, earning her the nickname 'Lady Death'. She proudly claims, "When I aim and shoot, I never miss." However, as Russia's situation worsens and they struggle against Hitler's advancing forces, the Russians see Mila as the perfect candidate to recruit America's support. They view her as a valuable PR tool. Reluctantly, Mila sets foot in the USA, only to discover that she has become the target of an assassin's plot to kill the president.

Bottom line, I would recommend this book.
