Keep Me Posted
A great book from Lisa Beazley. Two sisters, two different worlds. Meet Cassie, a former internet blogger, now mother of twin toddlers, living in Manhattan, struggling to make it all work. Her older sister, Sidney, is an expat living in Singapore, enjoying the slow pace of life with her husband, her teenage son River, and Lulu, her baby girl. When the two sisters get together over the holidays, Sidney realizes that Cassie knows more about her Facebook friends than they know about each other. It doesn't help that Sidney has an aversion to technology, while Cassie can hardly let go of her phone. That's when Sidney came up with an idea.
This year, they will write to each other. Real physical letters. What seems almost scary at first quickly becomes therapeutic. In these letters, everything goes: the reality of motherhood, the strain it can have on a relationship, current and past mistakes, fears and hopes, confessions, and of course gossip about their friends, family, and neighbors. But what happens when those letters become extremely public, available on the last place you'd want to see your private thoughts exposed? Keep me posted is a wonderful story about the ups and downs of motherhood, family, and love in a modern world. I really enjoyed this story. It captivated me from the beginning. It's a story many of us can relate to, as it paints a real portrait of adulthood and the struggles we encounter as women.
