Some books arrive in your life at just the right time, and for me, Mixed Signals was one of them.
Layla Dupree is Lovelight Farms’ beloved baker, known for her delicious treats but not for her luck in love. After countless disappointments in the dating world, she starts to wonder if she’s simply destined to be single. Then there’s Caleb, a former cop turned high school teacher, who keeps getting dumped before reaching the fourth date. In a lighthearted and fun twist, the two agree to a one-month dating experiment: Caleb will show Layla what a real, respectful relationship looks like, and in return, she’ll give him honest feedback on what he’s doing wrong (or right).
Of course, we all know where this is headed—but the journey is pure joy. Featuring the beloved fake-dating trope, charming small-town vibes, laugh-out-loud humor, and so many delicious dessert references that you’ll be craving pastries by the end, this book is the perfect feel-good romance.
B.K. Borison delivers another warm and cozy love story that’s ideal for breaking out of a reading slump. If you love small-town romance, a sprinkle of spice, and witty banter, this one’s for you!
