Tanya Talaga is an award-winning journalist and author from Canada. She was born in 1973 in Fort William First Nation, Ontario, and is a member of the Marten Falls First Nation. Talaga studied at the University of Toronto and has worked as a journalist for over 20 years, covering a wide range of topics including indigenous issues, politics, and social justice. She has written for various publications, including the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail, and has also worked as a documentary producer for CBC Radio. In 2018, Talaga published her critically acclaimed book "Seven Fallen Feathers: Racism, Death, and Hard Truths in a Northern City," which sheds light on the deaths of seven indigenous high school students in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The book won numerous awards, including the RBC Taylor Prize for non-fiction. Talaga continues to use her platform to raise awareness about issues affecting indigenous communities in Canada.
